Up until 1999 Daewoo, which basically means “the immense outer space” was a large South Korean conglomerate that was active in a variety of industries including steel processing, shipbuilding and financing. In 1999 the South Korean government decided to divide the industrial conglomerate, which was founded in 1967, into individual companies.
Car manufacturer Daewoo Motors also came from this conglomerate, a majority of which has been owned by General Motors since 2002 as GM Daewoo.
Since 1994 Daewoo has been present in Europe as a car brand, first with the Daewoo Tico, which was directly followed by the Daewoo Nexio compact car. The brand continued to remain loyal to the compact car segment and, in 1998, had a breakthrough on the European market with the Matiz, which increased the brand's familiarity.
Although the Daewoo brand is now produced under the umbrella of Chevrolet (General Motors), you still see these vehicles on European streets today. Models like the Evanda, Leganza and Rezzo are popular. In the meantime, the Chevrolet logo has appeared on former Daewoo vehicles. Compact cars like the Matiz and Spark are considered very popular.
The former Daewoo sub-compact cars are lightweight and versatile, which presents an outstanding basis for engine tuning. RaceChip enables the easy installation of chip tuning boxes in Daewoo vehicles such as the Lacetti VDI with 110 kW (150 HP). After installing the power box both vehicle and driver will benefit from up to 47 additional HP and an astounding 407 Nm. In this way you'll make your little car go like greased lightning that needn't shy away from a friendly race thanks to its power improvement.
